Store Manager Accused Of Selling Alcohol To Kids In Fairfield County

A manager at a store in Fairfield County has been accused of selling alcohol to minors in addition to having 3.5 pounds of cocaine as well as illegal fireworks and hard liquor.

Michael Vegas, age 41, was busted on Wednesday, July 7, during a joint operation between the Bridgeport Police and the state Liquor Commission for spot checks at beer and grocery stores suspected of selling alcohol to minors.

While checking 1359 Park Ave., M & S Grocery and Deli, a minor was witnessed by a liquor control agent making a purchase of an alcoholic beverage, said Bridgeport PD Capt. Kevin Gilleran.

After the minor left the store the agent, along with members of the Narcotics Team, entered the establishment.

During their inspection, the liquor control agents located suspected narcotics which tested positive for cocaine weighing 3.15 pounds.

Agents also located packaging material, suspected “K2” synthetic cannabis, illegal fireworks, and hard liquor, Gilleran said.

Vegas, of Bridgeport, was placed under arrest and charged with:

  • Operation of a drug factory
  • Illegal possession of explosives
  • Possession with intent to sell narcotics
  • Possession with intent to sell cocaine

Bond was set at $250,000. 

 State Liquor control agents also cited Vega for the illegal sale of alcohol to a minor.
